M4 closures return this weekend near Reading and Heathrow

M4 weekend closures return today as work continues to transform it into a smart motorway.

Drivers near Reading will be affected by an overnight slip road closure on Friday, November 12, while a stretch of the motorway towards London and Heathrow Airport will be closed for the entire weekend.

The eastbound and westbound junction 12 slip roads at Theale, will be closed for technology works from 9pm on Friday and are due to reopen by 6am on Saturday, November 13.

The M4 and its slip roads will also be closed overnight from junction 4b ( M25 interchange) and junction 3 (Hayes) throughout the weekend.

On Friday, November 12 the M4 will be closed eastbound only, from 11pm until 5.30am on Saturday, November 13.

From 10pm on Saturday, November 13 the motorway will be closed in both directions and is due to reopen by 5.30am on Sunday, November 14

The same stretch will be closed overnight on Sunday, November 14, the slip roads will close at 10pm with the carriageway due to close at 10.30pm. The road is expected to fully reopen by 5.30am on Monday, November 15.

Drivers travelling to Heathrow Airport may face delays due to the closure.

All traffic will be diverted off the motorway on to the A312, A40 and M25 or this route in reverse.

Drivers are urged to leave more time for their journeys and seek alternative routes where possible.

There are a number of weekend closures in November, which begin at 8pm on the Friday, with the motorway due to reopen by 6am on the Monday.
