Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (CAS’11) delivered a powerful and emotional speech Thursday on the floor of the House of Representatives about the abusive ways some men talk to women. Her words came after Representative Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) stopped her on the Capitol steps earlier in the week, accosted her, and called her “crazy,” she said, and when she was out of earshot, muttered that she was a “fucking bitch.” In her speech, Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said she had planned on letting the confrontation pass—until Yoho brought it up on the House floor and apologized for what he called a “misunderstanding,” but not for his words.
