Blue Shield of California, Walgreens Partner on Personalized Healthcare Solution

Some Golden State residents covered by Blue Shield of California will be offered limited healthcare services at Walgreens locations under a newly announced arrangement between the two companies, according to a press release.

The companies state in a news release that the initiative will expand access to health care among underserved populations and reduce costs.

The program will be called "Walgreens Health Corner" and will "include health advisors – pharmacists, dieticians, or nurses – to inform and assist with health, nutrition, fitness, and disease management care coordination for either real-time or future care," the announcement states.

Healthcare services offered will include blood pressure screenings, administration of A1C blood tests and mammography coordination, according to the announcement.

The companies said Walgreens Health Center also will let patients "pick up take-home health screening tests with in-person assistance from health advisors for instruction on how to use and complete the kits, as well as support to locate new health and wellness products."
